By the beginning of April 2024, the presence of Chinese car brands in Russia has increased fivefold compared with 2021. According to Alexander Revsky, Executive Director of Aimars Media, it was virtually impossible for Chinese brands to enter the Russian car market because dealerships and service centers used to be lacking in Russia.
Under the current conditions, Chinese manufacturers have managed to effectively and quickly adapt to the needs of Russians and, consequently, they now occupy a significant share of the local car market. Nowadays, 53 Chinese car brands are being sold in our country, and Russia has obtained world championship when it comes to the number of automobiles imported from China.
The competition between Chinese and Western cars in Russia is due to a number of reasons:
- The price of Chinese cars is usually more attractive to consumers compared to their more expensive Western counterparts.
- Chinese manufacturers offer a wide range of cars of different classes, from urban cars to crossovers and SUVs.
- Localization of production: many Chinese car manufacturers have plants in Russia, which reduces the cost of production and simplifies the process of car delivery to dealers.
