BRIDGESTONE PRODUCTION SITE IN ULYANOVSK WILL BE OPERATING WITH A NEW OWNER | TKM - International Consulting
April 12, 2024

One year ago, S8 Capital Holding acquired the former plant of Bridgestone, which had left Russia, thanks to which the tyre production at the site in Ulyanovsk will resume by the end of 2024.

"The plant in Ulyanovsk is planned to be launched by the end of the year. As of today, we are testing all the systems of production, bringing in new raw materials, making new molds and determining the product to produce on site," informs Vadim Volodin, CEO of JSC Cordiant (rus. Кордиант), a part of S8 Capital.

To recap, the Bridgestone headquarters has suspended production at the aforementioned plant in March 2022, and consequently, S8 Capital Holding acquired the Japanese company's Russian assets in December 2023. Despite the fact that the Bridgestone trademark does not belong to the new owner, the tyre manufacturer promised to meet the needs of Russian consumers by creating 1.2 M of goods in 2025.

Taking into account the rapid changes and dynamic import substitution on the Russian market, the experts of TKM International Consulting draw attention of the foreign rights holders to the growing difficulty of resuming operations in Russia after withdrawal or suspension of business in the state. TKM regularly monitors the trends in the global trade and informs its clients promptly about any important fluctuations making forecasts about favorable opportunities as well as bad consequences and risks.
